Bobastro
Bobastro is an ancient settlement located in the north of Málaga province, the highlight of which are the structures excavated from its rocky ground, including a rock-hewn Mozarabic church and a castle. You can reach the site from the Álora-Ardales road, just over 1 mile north of El Chorro on the south side of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes (Gaitanes Gorge). From there, a small paved trail leads you up to Las Mesas de Villaverde hill, but halfway up you’ll find the beginning of the footpath to the Bobastro ruins. At the top of the hill, where you can enjoy some great views of the surrounding area, you’ll find the remains of a fort.
